Project... Cherry Blossom Branch
This was such a fun and rather fast project to put together. By placing the
Cherry Blossom decal on a piece of painted canvas it really updates the sticker
and gives dimension to the piece. Looks more art like...as it should!
I'll show you what I used and how I got the look.
Let's get started!
-
Cherry Blossom decal (Decal from www.modernwallcompany.com found here)
-
2 foot x 4 foot piece of Canvas
-
Acrylic paint (I used Black)
-
Foam paint brush
Step 1. Paint the canvas including sides
Make sure paint has completely dried before moving to step 2 or the vinyl will NOT stick!!
Step 2. Apply the Branch
Determine Branch placement
Use a scraper or plastic spatula to press the vinyl onto the canvas. This was tricky because the canvas is soft and flexible. I didn't want to push right through it! One after thought I had was to place a book or something sturdy underneath the canvas so when I pushed the vinyl down it would push against the book instead of bending the canvas.
Step 3. Remove transfer sheet
Take your time, go slow. The vinyl will most likely pull up or lift as you roll off the transfer paper. Canvas has a good texture to it and the vinyl will need a bit of help. So, if it does loosen up or lift use your fingers and press it back down, smoothing as you go. I questioned if the vinyl really would stay on the canvas once it was finished because it doesn't stick tight like it does on glass, but it totally stayed!
Step 4. Apply the Blossoms
Now for the fun part! Cut out the blossoms and decide where to put them and how many to use!
